Insight Into The Pod Mind

Something weighed heavily at the back of Jake’s mind and
instinctually he threw another query at Jacob. “Where do you think the
consciousness of these dolphins lies?”
From the look on the Haitian’s face, he could tell the man had not
expected such a question. Jacob sat quietly for a long moment before
answering, and when he finally did, the words came slowly. “I believe
they see the world much differently from the way humans do, that their
sense of reality is much more profound than what we experience.”
Jacob abruptly fell silent, and Jake looked at him closely before
pursuing the subject further. “Assuming everything you just described
to be true, do you think they can see higher dimensional space?”
“Yes.” The word came out of Jacob’s mouth as if it was sacred and
his face suddenly took on the expression of a man lost in deep thought.
“The forerunners of these albinos held a marvelous advantage over the
human species by not possessing prehensile extremities.”
     “How do you mean?”
“Without the ability to build machines, they were able to avoid
becoming grounded in materialistic pursuits like most of mankind,
allowing them to develop inwardly over the last fifty or sixty million
years. It set the stage for the new breed to make the evolutionary
transition that would transcend the dimensional gap we humans have
trouble getting past. Dolphins were well on the way to learning how to
control and repair their energy bodies, the true essence of all sentient
beings that pervades the universe and hyperspace. But these new
creatures appear to have taken it a step farther, somehow learning to
master and draw upon this unseen power rather easily.”
Bafflement lifted from Jake’s face like fog burning off under a hot sun.
“So that explains how these creatures are able to heal others so quickly.”
He mulled this briefly, then said, “But how do you account for this ability
in Destiny? She seems even more adept than the others in this capacity.”
“Destiny’s mother is endowed with such a gift. Through genetics she
has passed this trait onto her daughter.”
“Are you telling me Destiny also sees beyond three-dimensional
space?”
Once again, Jacob responded slowly. “Destiny is very unique. She
may very likely represent a newly evolving class of human with senses
that give her the means to interact with the fabric of hyperspace. But her
thoughts and emotions are so intertwined with the pod, it would be too
difficult to determine if she actually possesses such an ability alone and
by herself.”
Jake nodded at the logic. “So you’re saying she may only see higher
dimensions through the minds of the albinos.”
“Not exactly. Separately, the consciousness of each of these albinos
may not be able to see higher dimensions. But when linked with each
other in a kind of synchronous mind meld, they can. It may very well be
that only together are they able to achieve such an expanded state of
awareness.”
“You mean like forming a super-mind.”
     “Very much so.”
